Who Needs To Be In Your Orbit? #392
Imagine you're attending a gathering filled with people that you've admired for years. Leaders, authors, business owners, or men and women of faith are right in front of you. You watch them mingle, yet you find yourself clinging to the wall rather than walking to the middle to join the conversation.
Here's what you may not realize. Every person standing in the middle of that room has felt exactly what you're feeling right now. They've questioned whether they belonged. They've wondered if anyone would notice them. The difference isn't their success now. It's that they took the first step away from the wall.
As I've been writing this Orbit series, I've realized something about my own life. There are people that I believe God wants to place in my orbit. Men whose faith, leadership, and character I admire. Yet, just like many of you, I've allowed fear to convince me they're too busy, too successful, or too far out of reach. I’m asking myself if I have the courage to leave the wall.
I understand that we like to start and finish projects on our own. Asking for help feels foreign because we think independence is strength. But bringing someone into your orbit doesn't mean you can’t succeed. It actually multiplies what God can do with you and through you. The only way you’ll know for sure is if you make the call or send the text.
King Solomon proved the point in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, when he said, “Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!” You see, God never intended for us to walk alone. He wants to use someone to encourage you, challenge you, and help you become the man He's calling you to be.
It’s time to ask and learn from someone you admire and who's already walking the road you want to be on. Just think, what if the person God wants to use in your life is only one conversation away? Because for every call you don't make and every text you don't send may be what’s keeping you from the person God is calling you to become. So today, I want to encourage you to stop admiring from a distance and reach out to someone before you miss out.
There’s one disclaimer, though. Not everyone will say yes when invited into your orbit. Some won’t respond, and some will be too busy. But don't let that stop you; keep reaching out.
Pray for the opportunity. Trust God's timing. If that relationship is part of His plan for your life, He'll open the right door. Your responsibility isn't to control the outcome. It's simple to have the courage to knock.
Before today ends, who comes to your mind? I have a few names for myself. Sounds like we both need to make the call, send the text, or email. You may be one conversation away from the relationship God has been preparing for you all along.
