Run Your Race #362
If you’d like to hear this message instead of reading it, tune in to the Living Your Legacy Podcast.
I feel that every believer wants to hear the words from Jesus, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master,*” as we’re welcomed into His presence. We want to know that we made a difference and that we mattered.
Even today, we want to hear those words from those we interact with. However, in our fast-paced, head-down world, most people do not take the time to acknowledge or thank others as they should. If this is you, then I encourage you to find someone who needs to hear, “Well done, I saw what you did. You made a difference.”
The truth about a relationship with God is that it’s a two-way street that goes both ways. You may have to give before you receive. Instead of hoping to hear those words from God, try thanking Him first and for always being faithful to you and fighting for you. I mean, He did make a difference in your life. Just saying.
Just think, what if you could honestly feel in your heart, “I poured out all that I am as a drink offering to God. I have fought the good fight, I have run the race that was meant for me, and finished it. I have kept the faith*.” When you believe this, then you won’t have to worry about your future or worry about what others say because in your heart, you’ll know you did the best you could for the right reasons.
These words can also inspire your family and motivate them to follow your example. Wouldn’t you want your family to know that you fought for them, loved them, and sacrificed for them? Then do it. I would love for my kids to be able to say, “Dad’s love endures forever*, He’s always there no matter what.” They’ll believe because they saw and heard you, and that will be a legacy etched in more than just stone.
The best thing about living inspired by the words, “Well done..” is that you won’t have to tell the people around you, they’ll know because they see it everyday in the way you lead them, stand in front of the battles to protect them, help them run their best race all while doing the little things that make a difference to them.
So here are three things you can do to change your legacy forever. One, tell someone today, “Well done.” Two, write down three things you’ll fight for and keep that list in front of you. Third, do one little thing better than anyone else. Do these everyday and you’ll have a peace that you don’t understand*.
In conclusion, never forget that when you strive to live your best legacy and fight everyday for what matters to you, there will be no weapon that will hurt you. There will be no obstacle that will slow you. You’ll relish in the countdown clock instead of fearing it because you have a mission that still needs to be done. I believe that God is wanting to do something in you, He sees what you can do and who you can be. It’s time to step into the starting blocks and run.
