Faith Forward 2026 #365

If you’d like to hear this message instead of reading it, tune in to the Living Your Legacy Podcast.

Every day, Scripture is right in front of us. Do we even notice it? During the holidays, much of the country has watched football and basketball. In sports, the same theme applies where coaches prepare a game plan, then on game day, they signal a play and hope it’s carried out. Coaches and fans alike have faith that players will succeed, and the team wins.

This idea is seen in other areas, too. Whether it’s a chef, a diner cook, or even someone cooking for their family. They hope that what they’ve prepared tastes good and have faith that the guests will return. A supervisor, or the CEO of a company, instills a plan and hopes the workers produce a good product, resulting in a profit.

There are numerous examples of how hope and faith play a role in our daily lives. It’s seen in Scripture, too. For example, Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Think about how every significant moment of our lives can be summed up with this verse. For instance, there was hope that we didn’t crash too hard when learning to ride a bike. Then there was a faith and a conviction of the unseen when “dad” let go of the seat, setting us free. The ups and downs of being a parent alone display this one verse, regardless of their age.

I believe that there’s power in the reminder of how people lived by faith in Hebrews 11. They had the assurance of the things hoped for and conviction of the unseen. To name a few, Noah believed that it was going to rain, Sarah was assured that she was going to conceive, and Moses had the conviction that the water would part after his staff hit the beach as the Egyptian soldiers drew near. So, why can’t we have the same assurance, the conviction, the hope, and the faith today? Or better yet, shouldn’t we?

God uses the words “By faith” repeatedly in one chapter to convince us that we can live by faith, too. To help you implement this verse in your life, here are a few tips as you set your New Year’s resolution goals. First, write this verse at the top of your goal sheet. Then choose the areas of your life that need a reset or a goal. It could be areas like diet, finances, spirituality, family, exercise, or vacation. Once you pick your goals, then etch this verse into your mindset because these words can reinforce your why for choosing them. These words will motivate you to get up and keep going. This promise will convince you that what you’re doing will eventually pay off in the end. You’ll soon have a conviction that you’ll achieve your goals.

The beauty of God’s living and breathing Word is that it shows up in your life. Once you adapt this mentality will live differently. You’ll parent differently because of your assurance that what you’ve instilled will work. You will walk differently because now you are walking by faith when entering a room. Your perspective, too, will change from the pain of eliminating fast foods to improving your health overall. Lastly, since your legacy is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen, then the significance of living your best legacy just became real. It’s up to you to live it. So there you go, one verse for 2026 can make a big difference.
