My Garden, Your Garden, Everyone Has A Garden #334

I usually do three things every Memorial Day weekend. One, I pause to honor and remember the

sacrifices our veterans have made. Later, I’ll open our pool, followed by starting our garden. Even though I may have watched several gardening videos, I/we usually do it the same way every year. This is not about planting tomatoes, though. Today, I hope to change your view of your garden and bring it to life because I believe it offers valuable lessons to learn from.

When my wife was planting a row of onions, I wondered what would happen if she just poured the seeds on top of the dirt instead of burying them. Later, when I planted the tomatoes, I thought, what if I only put them halfway into the ground? But we didn’t, then, after we were done watering the rows, I wondered, what if that was the only time we watered until Labor Day? As you know, none of these ideas would work, and if we had tried them, the garden would have looked worse at the end than it did in the beginning because we skipped the necessary steps, leaving us with no plants, no roots, and no fruit.

To do it right, you’d till the ground first, bury the seeds or plants, provide adequate water, fertilize, and remove the weeds that. Caring for your garden requires a daily routine to maintain it and keep it growing. Over the next couple of weeks, I hope to connect the garden to your life, legacy, and your neighbors, so you can start tending to it with a new attitude.

There will always be weeds that creep into your life, and left unattended, they will grow out of control. You try to ignore the weeds at first, hoping that one day they magically go away, but unfortunately, that’s not how life works. I don’t assume to know what your weeds are and what’s stopping you from living your purpose, calling, or legacy, but I can tell you that if you truly want to eliminate them, you must first look inside and ask God to reveal them. It’s called honest discovery. Only then can you get rid of what needs to be removed so the best plants can flourish like they’re supposed to.

This is your decision to make or to sidestep, but just know that whatever you decide will have everlasting ramifications. Also, understand that daily steps to care for your garden will take time, but in the end, every step is worth it. You’ll not only produce fruit that helps others, but you’ll be motivated to fertilize, prune, water, and protect your garden of life, your garden of legacy, to ensure that no weeds stop the best plants from producing the best fruit ever again.

It’s time to break through the dirt of this world and live the legacy that makes a difference, one that’s remembered, one that sows seeds in others that produce fruit for generations.  Remember, no plant, no roots equals no legacy. It’s time to start taking care of your garden today.

I would love to help you start living your best legacy, but I’ll never get the chance to if we don’t connect. Visit www.lighthouselegacies.com to learn how. Also, listen and subscribe to The Living Your Legacy Podcast and check out the Lighthouse Legacies YouTube channel.
