Some believe that all you need is a dream to be successful. But there’s more to it than just having a dream. Here are a few ideas to make your dream a reality.
We all have or have had dreams. So if you either want to receive a new dream or reclaim an old one, then the first thing you need to do is to clear space for it. Nothing major or forever, just for at least 30 days. You can eliminate one distraction, a harmful habit, or ignore a negative person. Think of it like addition by subtraction, but in a good way.
For example, I’m cutting out Fox News and Facebook for the entire month of February (except to post this). Doomscrolling or consuming negative news takes up my time, clutters my mind, and brings tension into my life, so why not get rid of it? The truth is that if you want a God-sized dream, then you should remove things that try to block it and give God room to reveal it.
Are you ready to dream again? Then start by asking God to reveal His dream for you. When you allow yourself to just sit, dream, and let go. Your dream will resurface, and before you know it, you’ll imagine yourself achieving your dream. When this happens, your life is set in motion, and things will start appearing that you’ve missed before, and you can’t stand still anymore.
I believe there’s a God-sized dream in you right now. Sure, it may scare you today, but it still inspires you tomorrow. If this is you, congratulations, because you’ve officially started chasing your dream.
The next step in making your dream a reality and giving your vision something practical is to set goals centered around that dream. Honestly, it makes sense that if God gave you the dream, then your goals should align with it and with Him. Ask yourself three basic questions. Does my dream honor God, bless others, and do I need His help to accomplish it? If you can say yes to these questions, you know the dream is not from you.
I think you’re different, you’ve been chosen for a higher purpose, a life that’s different than the norm. So, it’s time to stand out and act on your God-sized dream so you can flourish in the life that you’ve been given. God has a plan for you to prosper, and yes, He may share it through a dream to get your attention.
Now that your dream has become a vision and you’ve set goals to accomplish it. The next step is to share your dream with someone you can trust because it’s bigger than what you can handle alone. Make sure the both of you seek God’s presence and direction to move the dream forward so you can hold each other accountable. Two can accomplish more than one.
The final step in the process is to work with great diligence. When the dream matters more than quitting, then you’ll work for it more. You’ll soon pray like it depends on God, and work as though it depends on you. God’s given you the dream today because, He might ask, “What did you do with the dream I gave you? Did you use the talents, gifts and resources I gave only you? Did you walk through the doors I opened for you?” Those questions should motivate you to dream big, have a vision for what’s possible, set goals around it, work towards it so you can be proud of your answer. Today’s the day, I dare you to dream.
