Dare To Be Courageous #354

If you’d like to hear this message instead of reading it, tune in to the Living Your Legacy Podcast.

What do Colin Campbell at Balaklava and Jesus have in common? Well, Campbell’s men believed in their leader and were ready to die in battle to defend their country. Followers of Christ also know that whoever loses their lives for His sake will save it.

Did you know that it takes courage to stand for what you believe in when those around you or the world question it? It takes courage not to follow your peers when you don’t agree. It takes courage to say no when others demand a yes. It takes courage to be self-aware and disciplined to address an area of your life that’s broken. It takes courage to face this challenge every day. It takes courage to be laughed at, ridiculed, and judged by people who don’t truly know you or believe in you. It takes courage to cross the proverbial bridge when you don’t know what’s on the other side. It takes courage to unmask your true self and step into who you’re created to be. It takes courage to walk across the yard with your staff.

Three weeks ago, I encouraged you to grab a staff, walk across your yard, and declare with your actions that you’ll go where the Lord sends you. So, have you grabbed a staff yet? No, then I want to show you how stepping out from what’s comfortable or stepping away from what’s holding you back takes courage. In my heart, I know that God is calling you to places that have been kept inside too long, and if you’re tired of staying stuck or being timid, then it’s time to go now.

I’ll warn you, though, when courage calls you to move, the voice of timidity gets louder. When you allow the voice of fear to be the loudest, then expect the feeling of defeat of staying on the sideline while the “Coach” calls you into the game. It takes courage to mute the voice of fear and listen to God’s voice of courage instead. He knows you’re ready for this, or He wouldn’t be calling you.

You have a choice to make. You can be courageous like David, who walked towards the giant with only a sling and a few stones, or you can be timid and accept as-is. In either case, people are watching you today, just like the Israelites watched a kid who was willing to lose his life to save it and save them. Let your courage be your example, and people will follow so they too can defeat their giants.

In conclusion, no one said that being a follower of Jesus Christ is easy, but it does take courage and a willingness to lay down your life for His sake, because what’s been holding you back thus far is minuscule to what you gain in the end. Today, I dare you to have the courage to go for it.

It took courage for me to write a chapter in the book, Your Story Matters: The God Stories. You can purchase yours on Amazon at https://a.co/d/iTb1wLN. I appreciate your order.
